Barry is a Managing Director with Rubicon Infrastructure Advisors (“Rubicon”) and is based in the Dublin office. Barry leads Rubicon’s European renewable energy practice, having worked in the global energy and infrastructure sector for more than 16 years.
Barry has successfully led numerous transactions across the offshore wind, onshore wind, solar PV and conventional energy sectors, having worked across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa, in sell-side, buy-side and strategic roles. Barry has worked closely with project developers, infrastructure funds, institutional funds, large energy users and utilities.
Barry spent ten years in senior corporate development and corporate finance capacities with global renewable energy developers, initially with global wind developer Airtricity where he led two equity raises and the company’s entry into a number of international markets. After the extraordinary growth of Airtricity and the subsequent sale of the company in 2008 for USD $2 Billion, Barry was part of the founding management team of global wind and solar developer Mainstream Renewable Power, where he led onshore development activities across the EMEA region for several years, including the highly successful entry into the South African market.
Barry has spent the past seven years in a financial advisory capacity, working closely with senior management teams and board members of global developers, asset owners, utilities and investors, advising on asset acquisitions, asset divestments and financing.
Barry studied Electronic Engineering in University College Dublin and Bioengineering in Strathclyde University and the University of Calgary. He has an MBA from the Smurfit Graduate Business School and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
