Nacho Ruiz Hens

Nacho is a Managing Director with Rubicon Infrastructure Advisors (“Rubicon”) and is based in the New York office. His focus within the firm ranges from M&A, valuation, project finance and tax equity across the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors in North and South America.
Nacho has over 13 years of experience in the energy finance industry, having been Executive Director and Head of Investments & Strategy Americas at Cubico Sustainable Investments from 2015 to 2018. At Cubico, he was initially responsible for coordinating different initiatives within the Brazil, Mexico and remaining LATAM (Uruguay, Peru and Colombia) business units as well as global corporate valuation. During his tenure, he oversaw a development platform of 1GW in Mexico while also originating and arranging a first of its kind financing for a 350 MW solar project. In 2017, Nacho helped launch Cubico’s US Origination and Execution team where he supported different solar origination initiatives including a JV with a US developer for a portfolio of 750 MW and the purchase of a development company with 175 MW of operating assets and 700 MW of pipeline.
Nacho started his career in the corporate and structured finance global credit risk groups of Santander Bank in Madrid in 2005. Between 2011 and 2014, he relocated to New York to set up the equity investment group of Santander Bank for the US market, where he led over USD $1 billion of investments in 1GW of wind and solar projects in the US. Nacho was involved in the sale of 67% of a 1.5 GW wind and solar platform from Santander Bank to PSP and OTPP that led to the creation of Cubico.
Nacho has a double degree in Law and Business Administration from ICADE in Madrid, Spain.
